Cine Kalisperitis

The open-air cinema is an experience inseparably linked to the Greek summer. However, in this little corner of the Cyclades, the Kimolistes, starting from Fotis’ love for cinema, have given this concept a whole new dimension—creating something truly unique.

Cine Kalisperitis is a mobile outdoor cinema that the organizers set up in the castle, in squares, and on the beaches of Kimolos. Each time in a different location, each time with a different backdrop, and always free of charge. This initiative began a few years ago and is the culmination of the passion, taste, and dedication of a few—very few—who had the vision to create something remarkable, something that gets better with each passing year.

The first time I watched a film was on Alyki Beach. The screen was set up right in front of the sea, and behind it, a full moon emerged on the horizon. Lanterns and torches lit up the surroundings. I don’t remember the movie—only the scenery. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing screenings at the Castle, Prassa, Rema, Polyaigos, Ellinika, and at Geronikolas’ Heights. Each time, it felt like a near-mystical experience.

Now, Cine Kalisperitis has expanded to other Cycladic islands, acting as Kimolos’ finest ambassador.

So, if you ever hear Cine Kalisperitis whispering your name from within the medieval castle or a secluded beach, don’t resist. Follow the call, and among the scents of honeysuckle, marjoram, and basil, beneath a sky studded with stars, surrounded by lanterns and torches, you will experience something that only a lucky few have—and a memory that will stay with you forever.
